With the support of Hampshire County Council, the school is currently working with the national charity Living Streets on a ‘Walk once a Week’ (WoW) project which encourages children and their families to walk to school at least once a week throughout the year.
At the end of each month, children who have walked at least once a week receive a special collectable pin badge. There is a different badge to collect for each month of the school year.
We hope that the project will help children to learn that walking is fun, helps them to keep fit and healthy, provides an opportunity to practise road safety skills and is good for the environment.
Families that are unable to walk the whole way to school are encouraged to ‘park and stride’, for example by parking at the Chineham Arms Pub or the Village Hall and walking the rest of the way to school.
