Four Lanes

Infant School

A flying start...

Federation

Working together to provide a seamless journey through primary years

You are aware that the governing bodies of Four Lanes Infant School and Four Lanes Community Junior School are considering forming a federation together. A consultation period opened for six weeks on 27th February, during which you were able to discuss the proposal with governors from either of the schools.

The consultation period has now closed and the two governing bodies have met to consider the input received from the consultation. We can now confirm that the decision has been made to progress with the proposal and therefore work will now begin to form the Four Lanes Federation.

Both governing bodies firmly believe that federating under a single governing body is a very positive step that will build a strong partnership between the schools, bringing many benefits to the children on their journey from Year R to Year 6.

What will happen next?

It will take a short period of time to establish the federation.

The main activities that will now begin are:

  • the creation of the new single governing body, for which we will be seeking parent governors, and
  • the process to appoint the executive headteacher.

These important activities will be completed in time for our federation date of June 8th 2023 and in the meantime both schools will continue to run as they do now, with no changes day to day.

You will receive a letter later today inviting applications for the two parent governor positions, which will fully explain the process and timeline.

This is an exciting time for our two schools and we are delighted that we can seize this opportunity to the benefit of all current and future children who are starting their education journey at the Four Lanes schools.
